This is the first time that Anne and Wentworth have seen each other in eight years. We learn more about Wentworth and the way he thinks and acts. Through their, in particular Mary’s actions we see that Wentworth has been deemed important enough to warrant some excitement. We also see the reactions of Mary and Charles after their dinner with Wentworth that they also have praise for him especially on his â€Å"charming manners†. However Anne’s reaction to Wentworth and his avoidance of breakfast at the cottage the day after is one of understanding, this is due to the fact that only she knows that he does not want to see her and is avoiding her. However he does come to the cottage, for a brief time where he and Anne meet again for the first time in eight years. Their interaction is only short as he is only visiting for a few minutes before hunting with Charles, yet they are reduced to greeting each other formally â€Å"a bow, a curtsey passed† and they never exchange any words. We see that Anne is relieved to have their first meeting over and done with. However after observing that Wentworth has not changed much and in fact looks much better, she finds out from Mary that Wentworth thought that Anne was â€Å"so altered he should not have know† her again. At the end of the chapter we switch to Wentworth’s point of view and his thoughts. We gain an insight into his past relationship with Anne and we find out how he used to feel about her and how â€Å"he had never seen a woman since whom he thought her equal†. This suggest that Wentworth is still not over Anne and was still not used to being in her presence as he had had â€Å"no desire of meeting her again†. We see that Wentworth tries to deny that he has any feeling for Anne and he fools himself into thinking that he wants to marry someone else, anyone except for Anne. We know that he hasn’t been totally unaffected by Anne’s decision eight years previously as he states that he wants a woman who has â€Å"A strong mind, with sweetness of manner†, two thing which he thinks that Anne lacks due to her being persuade not to marry him. In chapter eight we see much more of Wentworth as he is now part of the â€Å"same circle† as Anne Elliot and her in-laws. From Anne we learn more about how her past relationship with Wentworth is much different from her present one. We see that whilst they were â€Å"Once so much to each other! † they are â€Å"Now nothing†. During this chapter we also find out more about Wentworth’s life at sea and the reaction of Louisa and Anne to this. Louisa reacts much like Anne remembers she acted when she was getting to know Wentworth and didn’t know much yet about the navy. We find that Wentworth served with the Miss Musgrove’s other brother, Richard who died sometime previously. Wentworth is kind to the Musgrove’s, in particular Mrs Musgrove about the death of â€Å"Dick† even when it is implied that he did not even like her son and â€Å"had probably been at some pains to get rid of him†. At the end of the chapter we find that Wentworth is enjoying himself and according to Anne, who cannot help notice, this is due to â€Å"the attention of all the young women† this includes Henrietta, Louisa and the Miss Hayters. However Wentworth also seems to be worried or at least curious as to why Anne doesn’t seem to be enjoying herself and has not even danced as all she has been doing is providing the entertainment. We also see more interaction between Wentworth and Anne yet it is still only polite and does not even hint that there was anything between them in the past, as if they are only recent acquaintances. In the last chapter we see that Wentworth has had no trouble fitting in at Kellynch and even though he had had plans to move on and visit his brother in the country â€Å"the attractions of Uppercross induced him to put this off†. However with an old face turning up in Uppercross again we find that his reaction to Wentworth is much different to everyone else’s opinion of him. The Musgrove’s all had â€Å"unvarying, warm admiration† for him, whereas with the arrival of Charles Hayter we see Wentworth from a different perspective. One of the factors which could have explained Charles’s opinion of him could be that before the arrival of Wentworth Charles had been attached to Henrietta yet after his arrival Henrietta had forgotten all about him and it was as their relationship had never occurred. We also see more proof that Wentworth cannot see Anne hurt as he saves her from her nephew Walter who had enthusiastically climbed onto her back and had not let go despite being told several times to do so. In this instance we also see more about Charles Hayter’s opinion of Wentworth after his good deed is that Walter should have listened to him when he told him to do something. However his opinion of Wentworth has not changed yet he feels slightly inadequate as Wentworth helped where he could not and he feels as if he is being replaced by Wentworth. In conclusion I would say that we find out a lot about Wentworth, especially through opinions of other people. We also find out about more of his past in these three chapters than in the six chapters before. Wentworth is a typical hero from a ‘romantic’ novel and he seems as if he is too good to be true as he has no huge flaws in his character. We get the impression that overall Wentworth seems to be past the hurt Anne’s rejection caused him yet underneath there are hints that this is just a faiade. The original experiment involved sending white light into a screen with two small holes to serve as point sources. The light from these sources was then projected onto a screen and light and dark bands were observed. The mathematical formula could then be used after taking certain measurements. Equipment: Light source (Ray box), Red cellophane, Double-slit slide, and Measuring rod (can be already attached to Ray box. Method:1.Set up the ray box and place red cellophane in clip so that it is over the bulb. 2.Switch on ray box and stand approximately two meters away from the ray box, hold the slide up to your eye and look through one of the double slit patterns into the light. Observe disturbance pattern. 3.While looking through the slide, have someone move the white marker along the slide rule until its edge is approximately halfway inside a dark or light band. 4.Take measurement down and then repeat step 3 and gain measurement for other dark or light bands. Results: The results gained from the experiment were conclusive and accurate when compared to the original value for l for red light. Below is a table of the measurements recorded and calculations to gain l. Calculation (cont): The value d was calculated by placing the slide in a projector and then on the whiteboard (acting as a screen), marks were made. The slide had a measurement of 1cm and from this the ratio 35:1 was established. Measurements were then made and the slides actual measurements were determined. For this particular experiment, the slide marking D was used. L was measured also using simple trigonometry. The person viewing through the slide sat at a table and then looked down at the ray box on an angle. From measurements taken, L was able to be calculated quite accuratly. Conclusion and Discussion1.The l for red light is approximately 662nm (averaging out three results gained). This is within the acceptable range being 650nm 700nm. 2.Difficulties were experianced when trying to take measurements for x. It was hard to define the edge of the white marker and also count the number of fringes. There is no editing of the experiment that would make a significant difference unless different equipment is used.

(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is a hospital honoring the American veterans. The institution’s respect towards them is insurmountable, and thus, they are faithful to their mission of providing the best quality of health care to them, as willingly as they fought for the nation in younger years. As part of the nationwide Veteran’s Administration hospitals, the center ensures that quality healthcare is within reach for every American veteran. In carrying out their vision-mission statements, the hospital has quality services offered whether it is not in-patient care or out-patient care. Major medical services would include â€Å"primary, second and tertiary medical, neurological and mental health inpatient care† (â€Å"U. S. Department,† 2010). As observed, the hospital sees the necessity of caring for their patients holistically. This VA hospital is currently having 163 active hospitals affiliated with various medical colleges and universities, with facilities including â€Å"a 120-bed nursing home care unit, Community-Based Outpatient Clinics, nursing homes and four 150-bed state veterans’ nursing homes† (â€Å"U.S. Department,† 2010). In line with the core values of compassion, commitment, excellence, professionalism, integrity, accountability, and stewardship, this plan would follow a goal and an objective of patient-centered service, making the health care more accessible to all American Veterans. The pride of caring for the nation’s heroes is the inspiration of the hospital to do the best it could in providing efficient health care service. This plan targets seven issues surrounding patient fall rates; these are quality services, assurance of safety, accurate m edical delivery, knowledgeable line of staff, decrease of infection rate, increase of patient recovery, and continuous medical service for outpatients. As observed, the plan’s primary objective is to ensure that patients are far from a possible patient fall. The secondary objective is more concerned about facility and care accessibility. In this paper various aspects of EI are examined including various methods emotional intelligence can be applied in solving misunderstandings between two colleagues working in a company together with addressing the discomforts caused by the misunderstanding among them. Various implications that come with the inability to apply emotional intelligence techniques well are also addressed. In trying to understand and restore emotional intelligence various ethical issues are usually raised especially where a misunderstanding exists between two co-workers. This paper tries to analyze some of those ethical issues that might arise. Keyword: emotional intelligence. In the case study an employee Paula who is a recent college graduate is being harassed by a Richard, who is her fellow collogue. However much she tries to ignore the advancements they eventually begin disrupting her from her duties both at work and at home. Later Steve who is her boss realizes that and upon engaging with her she explains everything to him. So it is now upon Steve to dictate relevant way forward to create an emotional intelligent workplace for both Paula and Richard. Alternative solutions to address the dilemma In cases where there are no clear company’s policy against harassment in the workplace it would be advisable that the company’s leaders consider coming up with a policy advocating against harassment. With this measure in place then they should make it known to all employees about the anti-harassment policy and the consequences that come with going against the policy. The employer should also make known to all employees on how to react in the event a harassment case occurs. This includes giving employees guidelines on who to report the grievances to. In cases where harassment cases do not cease then the company’s management may call the two involved parties and encourage them to negotiate among themselves. This gives the accused a better chance to explain themselves incase their actions were misjudged by the complainant. In case the accused and the complainant agree and reconcile then the whole matter is considered solved and their duties resume as normal. The reconciliations may be in presence of a member of the company’s management or between the involved parties only. If this does not fix the problem then formal or informal measures can be taken on the employee going against the policy. Informal measures include where both the complainant and the accused in this case Paula being the complainant and Richard being the accused are called together and the accusations against the accused are presented to him/her. This could be in the presence of a senior in the company or a panel formed to investigate the matter. During the informal meeting the accused is given the chance to defend himself/herself. In the event that the accused is found guilty the complainant or the seniors may choose to warn against further harassment or choose to punish the accused according to the company’s policy. Formal measures include where the complainant presents a written complaint to the relevant authorities in the company. The authorities then conduct a formal investigation into the allegations and come up with a conclusion. After the results of the investigation are analyzed necessary measures are taken on the accused if guilty including getting fired from the job or forwarding them to the federal authorities. In the event that the accused is innocent then the complainant is cautioned against false accusations and or necessary action is taken against them. Potential ethical concerns raised In situations where harassment cases are reported various ethical concerns are inevitable. These concerns may be made known to others or the parties involved may choose to keep it to their selves. The concerns constitute what specific parties describe to as the harassment and may be physical, verbal or non-verbal. Physical concerns include where the accused physically acts inappropriately on the complainant for example instances where the accused touches the complainant in a sexual way or assaults the complainant physically. At times physical assault may lead to the complainant getting injured or result to fights. Verbal concerns arise where the accused says various things considered by the complainant to be inappropriate for example suggestive comments about someone’s body parts especially the private parts. Verbal concerns may also arise from instances that the accused verbally insults or says nasty things about the complainant. Non-verbal concerns include the way the accused looks at the complainant, or the way they generally behave around them. These concerns may be genuine or arise from misinterpreted actions from the accused since some people do behave in a way they assume is appropriate although to others the actions are of irritating nature. Potential emotional intelligence Ramifications to an organization In some cases the authorities of certain organizations fail to take steps that ensure emotional intelligence in the work place. The failure to ensure emotional intelligence of all workers has numerous ramifications to the company’s production, output and general working environment. Sexual harassment for example causes great discomfort to the workers. With the workers not comfortable it is likely that the production will not be at the very best since their concentration is not clearly on the job but rather on the insecurities they face. Time too is wasted on cases between co-workers. The time wasted is hardly recoverable thus it contributes highly to failure of production in the organization. When the company’s management does not exercise control on the employees’ emotional behavior then it is hard for them to control how the employees execute their designated duties. An organization with no clear hierarchy of order execution cannot perform its desired duties to the fullest since all the employees think as if they are on the same hierarchy level with their seniors since they do not display their supreme mandates in handling employees’ disputes. Some employees decide to sue an organization in instances where harm has come to them at the work places. This law suits use up the organization’s money is in fines and legal fees.
